If I had to choose just one collection from our diverse line of products, this would be the Particle one. Ethereal but strong, so labour intensive, so unlikely to survive the firing, Particles are my favourite babies. When they do come out, defying the gravity, logic and whimsicalities of the clay, they are stunning and deeply rewarding. A true conversational piece, a thoughtful gift or just a very special object of desire, the Particles are all in one. There is aways a sense of loss for me when I pack one to go to your home, office , restaurant or hotel lobby, but I know it's going to be in good hands and will be loved and cherished for generations to come.
Yuko collection is inspired by my dear Japanese friend whom I don't get to meet very often. Juxtaposition of melted snow signature glaze and unique black stoneware clay gives this line its distinctive look. Perfectly imperfect forms created on the potter's wheel are the heart of this collection. It includes tea bowls, chopstick bowls, plates and decor items.
Inspired by early spring hiking trip to Whistler, BC, this collection captures the very essence of our beautiful province. It's organic mix of black and white dot pattern is both local and global, finding connections to people all over the world. Similar to other Golem's collections, it's exploring the fine boundary between organic and urban, art and craft, functional and sculptural. It's growing number of products now include plates, tokoname teapots, chawans and bowls and vases in various sizes.
Zima means "winter" in russian and it's a homage to my Russian heritage. Inspired by childhood memories of Gzel tiled stove at my 150 years old Art Nouveau home in Riga, this line features imperfectly torn by hand cobalt blue floral images incorporated into clay pieces. Each object comes out differently as our memories always differ from reality. Nostalgic and traditional in this collection is strongly fused with clean, contemporary, minimalist ceramics of 21 century.
Gorgeous drips of gold are a perfect accompaniment to simple, laconic white and black shapes of the Flow collection. Each pice is fired 3 times to achieve this amazing gold or silver accent effect. Precision mixed with freedom of organic shaped ceramics is evident in every piece. The Flow creations were featured in numerous art and design blogs and magazines worldwide.
